March 2nd Meeting Reminders

Scouts and Parents,

I would like to welcome everyone back from the vacation week and I hope you had a fun and relaxing week off.

We’ll be getting started on plans for the Snowshoe trip tonight and I’ve got a couple of reminders for Scouts …

  • We need to complete meal planning tonight.  We will need to pack in a trail lunch for Saturday, dinner & cracker barrel for Saturday night and breakfast for Sunday.  Friday night Scouts are on their own (likely burgers or pizza on the way up to the lodge).  Saturday breakfast is provided at the lodge.  We also need trail snacks for the hike in on Saturday and out on Sunday.
  • I would like Scouts to Be Prepared! tonight with some meal ideas.  By thinking about it ahead of time, you are more likely to have delicious meals instead of something thrown together at the last minute.  Check out the website TrailCooking.com for some great meal ideas.
  • Snowshoes are required for the trip.  Scouts can bring their own or rent them through the Troop.  I need to know if you wish to rent through the Troop so I can make the necessary arrangements through EMS or REI.  Cost will be around $40 for the weekend.  A signup sheet will be available at the meeting tonight.
  • Finally, for those Scouts working with me on the Aviation Merit Badge, we will be meeting tonight to review navigation and flight planning, so bring your books and charts!

    See you at tonight’s meeting!!
