Concord River Canoeing

In preparation for the Canoe Trip next weekend, we’re having a couple of hours of paddling practice & instruction this weekend at the South Bridge Boat House in Concord, MA.   We’ll meet at the Boat House at 9:00 am and plan to be paddling down the Concord River by 9:30.  We’ll spend the first hour learning and practicing our strokes and then set off for an easy tour down the river.  We’ll finish up back at the Boat House at 11:30.

We’ll spend some time learning to control the canoe, the most efficient strokes for paddling, and how to avoid pitfalls like waterfalls and hungry snapping turtles so we don’t wind up like the couple in this photo!  Scouts will have an opportunity to paddle from both the bow and the stern of the canoe and learn how to paddle as a team.

Although this event is geared primarily for Scouts paddling with us next weekend, everyone is welcome to come and join us for a couple of fun hours on the river.

Cost of the event is $20/Scout or $26/Parent/Sibling/Friend for 2 hours of paddling.

Should be a really nice day on Saturday, so come spend some time with us on the river!
