Mt. Greylock Reminders

A couple of reminders for this weekend’s hike up Mt. Greylock …

We’ll meet at the church between 6:00 and 6:30 am on Saturday morning with a plan to leave for the mountain by 6:30.

Weather forecast is for rain Friday night and off-and-on showers through the weekend. Make sure you have rain gear handy. You should bring a pack cover or make sure you have your gear in waterproof bags inside your pack. (Lining your pack with a heavy-duty garbage bag will keep your stuff dry!) The trails will be wet, so wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring extra socks!

Our water source is a bit of a hike from the campsite. Everyone should bring at least 2 water bottles so we make sure we can bring enough water back to the campsite for cooking, cleaning and drinking overnight. Water bottles should be full for departure on Saturday morning as we won’t have a spot to fill up before we hit the trail.

If you have a small daypack you can fit in your overnight pack please bring it for our hike to the summit.

Reminder that all food, snacks, toothpaste and other “smellies” will need to go into the bear box at the campsite.  Just make sure you have any foodstuff packed into Ziploc bags so we can gather it and store it when we arrive in camp.

Get a good night’s sleep on Friday and we’ll see everyone bright and early on Saturday!
