Kayak Training Session

We’re happy to annouce a Kayak Training Session in advance of our kayak trip!

The session will be held at Charles River Canoe and Kayak on Sunday June 15 from 1:00 – 2:30.

The cost for this training session is $45 and includes boat rental and instruction for 1 1/2 hours.

Even if you’ve paddled a kayak before, this is a great opportunity to “tune-up” before the trip.  The instruction will focus on paddling strokes, wet exits (falling out of the boat) and rescues (getting back in the boat).

You will get wet! So dress appropriately .. swim trunks, river shorts, poly t-shirt, rash guard or hydroskin top.  Strap sandals, water shoes or old sneakers are required.  (No flip-flops) There are no changing facilities at the center, so come dressed to swim!

All paddlers should have a water bottle (filled) and a small dry bag or ziploc bag for keys, wallets and other valuables.

You may elect to spend some extra time and free-paddle on the Charles River after the class.  Rental rates are $15/hour and are the responsibility of the paddler.

If you have never performed a rescue in a kayak, you are strongly encouraged to attend this session.

A youth or adult waiver is required for each participant.  Forms may be found on the Charles River Canoe and Kayak website.  Fill out the Class/Trip waiver for all participants and a parental permission form for unaccompanied youth.

A sign-up sheet will be available at tonight’s meeting.
